Student Learning Advocate

The Ohio Online Learning Program has an understanding of the unique challenges that come with administering an online education program. The Student Learning Advocate, or SLA, is one of the things that sets the Ohio Online Learning Program apart from other online charters/programs.

These certified teachers are the main contact and support system for students, families, and districts. Student Learning Advocates are provided to each student and family to ensure the student’s success. As the first point of contact, the Student Learning Advocate provides the student and family with system training, goal setting, and monitoring grades and progress throughout the year. They provide ongoing support to help the student achieve the most out of the program. Student Learning Advocates are available via phone, email, and text message and check in on their students as frequently as needed.

Student Learning Advocates are also a huge resource for district personnel. They are able to provide regular progress reports and, because they are in constant contact with the family, an insider’s perspective on what might be happening in a student’s day-to-day life. Student Learning Advocates are also experts on the curriculum offerings and can assist district personnel with choosing the most appropriate courses for students.
