The latest initiative is the addition of the Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES). The Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System is a standards-based evaluation tool. Ohio school counselors, members of the Ohio School Counselor Association (OSCA), higher education, school administrators, and staff members from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) worked collaboratively to develop this evaluation system. Implementation will begin during the 2016-2017 school year and the policy becomes effective at the expiration of any collective bargaining agreement covering school counselors employed by the board that is in effect September 29, 2015, and shall be included in any renewal or extension of an agreement. At this time the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio has trained over 500 administrators and school counselors in this evaluation system.
