Description: |
Gifted students are one group of children that need teacher advocates that care about them, understand them, and can provide differentiation in the classroom that will help them achieve at levels commensurate with their abilities. This six-hour professional development session has two parts. - The first is a toolbox of information regarding identification practices, the differences between gifted/twice exceptional -vs -bright learners, myths, and social and emotional needs surrounding this special population.
- The second part is a practical toolbox of strategies to use with the advanced students in the regular classroom, such as infusing enrichment into already planned activities, compacting the curriculum, and utilizing creative questioning techniques and tiered assignments.
