This 2-day interactive workshop will provide participants with a basic working knowledge of TEACCH methodology (Treatment and Education of Autistic and other Communication Handicapped Children) and its role in working with students with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Participants will be introduced to Structured Teaching strategies including physical structure, individualized daily schedules, work systems, and visually structured activities, as well as strategies to support communication and positive behavior. The workshop will include both presentations and hands-on small group activities to support understanding of concepts and provide practice at individualizing strategies for students with diverse learning needs. These types of structure are well researched and are effective interventions for students with ADHD, cognitive disabilities, and learning disabilities as well as for students on the autism spectrum.

 

October 21 Day 1:  will be offered virtually and will focus on Structured Teaching and Communication. 

Time will be from 9 am -2:30 pm with an hour for lunch.

October 22 Day 2 will be offered in-person and will focus on application of content from day 1 and promoting positive behavior. Time 9 - 3 pm with and lunch break from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
