The Level I Certification course is designed to prepare teachers to effectively implement Steps 1-6 of the Wilson Reading System with students reading and spelling below grade level and those diagnosed with a language-based learning disability. Participants will demonstrate mastery of the Wilson lesson plan, including multisensory techniques and effective strategies in a 1:1 setting. PROGRAM OVERVIEW - The training involves both online and Wilson Trainer seminar instruction, and at minimum, a 65-lesson practicum with a student who falls between the 5th to the 30th percentile with a minimum total reading score of 2.0.
- Mandatory Orientation/Start-up Seminar, August 9, 2022.
- Training being offered either:
- In-person at the ESC of Northeast Ohio, 6393 Oak Tree Blvd., Independence, 44131, OR
- Virtual
- Registration is from 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM and Training is from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. (lunch is on your own)
- (5) Five mandatory implementation meetings during the training held VIRTUALLY (times and dates TBD)
- Additionally, the Wilson Trainer will schedule five (5) VIRTUAL coaching visits during the training, providing demonstrations and observations, with written and verbal feedback.
- An external camera is REQUIRED for the coaching visits,
- Zoom will be the meeting platform used
- Prerequisite: attendance at a Wilson Reading System 3-Day Introductory Course within the past 5 years
