“Leadership is second only to teaching among school-related influences on student success. Its impact is greatest in schools with the greatest needs. Principals strongly shape the conditions for high-quality teaching.” - The Wallace Foundation, 2015.
The Literacy Improvement Pathway consists of ten purposely ordered areas of focus for leveraging literacy and equity for improved student outcomes. It is based on the research of Dr. Timothy Shanahan. The first, and most important beginning point of the pathway is Leadership.
Participants will gain an understanding of the critical importance of instructional leadership, the evidence-based practices of literacy, and resources to assist in leading literacy in a school or district.
