Beyond Textbooks: Incorporating Complexity and Adolescent Evidence-Based Practices Through Text Sets. At the root of the grades 6-12 literacy standards and adolescent evidence-based practices is a focus on complex text. Text sets can serve as a means for scaffolding complex text for all learners while also building background knowledge, vocabulary, comprehension, and motivation for literacy tasks. Frameworks for creating text sets will be presented as well as resources for accessing existing text sets. |
