Jamie Smith is a teaching and learning consultant with the Educational Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio. Prior to consulting, Jamie served as a school administrator (9 years) and a classroom teacher (8 years). Jamie began her educational career teaching middle school science in South Carolina. Later, Jamie moved to Arizona and spent 10 years in Lake Havasu Unified School District in Arizona, where she served as an elementary and middle school teacher, a middle school assistant principal/ athletic director and elementary principal. Jamie returned to Ohio where she served as a principal in Painesville City Local Schools for 5 years. 

Jamie holds a Middle Childhood license 4-9, Principal License K-12, and Superintendent License from Kent State University. She has a diverse background in her educational experiences that makes her adaptable in supporting systems work. She has worked with both member and nonmember ESC districts on curriculum mapping, equitable grading practices, instructional leadership coaching, teacher clarity, explicit instruction, and planning and delivery of professional development. Jamie is a trainer for educator and principal evaluation systems (OTES/OPES 2.0) and a coach and graduate of OLI-4. She has supported district and building teams with their implementation of Literacy aligned to Science of Reading, along with ELA curriculum resource adoptions. Jamie is passionate about utilizing inclusive practices to impact the system to accelerate outcomes for all students. 

Jamie is a native of northeastern Ohio and is happy that her journey has led her back to home to be closer to family. She and her husband reside in Lake County with their son, Colton.
