Lea Travis is a teaching and learning consultant with the Educational Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio. Prior to working at the ESC, Lea was a high school Social Studies teacher in Southeast Ohio, an elementary principal in Sandusky, Ohio and an intermediate school principal and Director of Elementary Education in the Bedford City School District. Lea's Bachelor's Degree is in Secondary Education - Social Studies and her Master's Degree from the University of Dayton is in Curriculum. She holds a K - 12 Principal's License from the University of Dayton and her Superintendent License from Kent State University.
As a curriculum consultant, Lea has conducted workshops in Berkshire, Brooklyn, Buckeye Local (Ashtabula County), Chardon, CMSD, East Cleveland, Garfield Heights, Garrettsville, Richmond Heights, Sheffield, Twinsburg, Van Buren, Cuyahoga Falls, Riverside (Painesville) and Olmstead Falls, as well as data work in both Brown Local Schools and Field Local Schools. She has supported the districts in the areas of disciplinary literacy, social studies curriculum, inclusion of 21st century skills, and interdisciplinary unit designs. She supports districts with their implementation and their use of NWEA's MAP assessment. Lea has presented workshops on Differentiated Instruction, Close Reading, Rigor, The 4Cs, Co-Teaching, and Data Directed Instruction using MAP Data.
Since 2014, Lea has been a Regional Data Lead working with districts in the area of Value Added and the use of data to impact both instruction and to support student growth.
She also supports the First Ring School Districts as their curriculum committee facilitator.
Lea lives in Twinsburg with her husband Terry and their four children Ryan, Andy, Daniel and Sofia. As a family they love to spend time reading, swimming and riding bikes. They enjoy traveling, with Florida, Michigan and Washington, DC as family favorites.
