SEL Schools Maintains Strong 3.5-Star Rating, Focuses on Future Growth

The South Euclid-Lyndhurst City School District is proud to announce it has earned a 3.5-star rating on the Ohio State Report Card for the third consecutive year. District ratings are based on a five-star scale and measure a variety of factors, including academic achievement, student progress, gap closing, attendance, and college and career readiness.

This year’s state report card reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and families, as well as areas of continued growth and focus. Highlights from the report
include:

Student Progress:
The district earned 4 stars in student progress, demonstrating that SEL students are achieving strong growth across all grade levels.

Equity Gains:
The district’s gap closing rating improved to 4 stars, an indicator that targeted support is helping all students succeed.

Language Arts:
The district remains committed to continuous improvement in English Language Arts (ELA) instruction, now in its second year with a high-quality new ELA curriculum. Early literacy saw great gains on state testing in the 2024-25 school year, and remains an area of focus as staff continues to refine instruction blocks to support the individual needs of all students.

Math Instruction:
Math trends are increasing due to the implementation of high-quality curriculum four years ago, and the district expects math performance to continue trending upward.

Future Readiness:
College, career, workforce, and military readiness is a new scoring category for the state report card and the district is proud to have scored 3 stars in this first year of benchmarking data, demonstrating that our students are on the path to bright futures. The district is already expanding programming to further support students’ post-graduation goals.

The district’s Curriculum & Instruction team and building principals will share a detailed report card presentation at the Board of Education meeting on October 14 at 6 p.m. in the Brush Media Center. The meeting will also be available via livestream.
