Crossroads Health

Crossroads Day Treatment Center, located in Mentor, Ohio is a separate mental health/school program run by the Educational Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio in collaboration with mental health staff and therapists from Crossroads. The school serves students in grades K-12 that have been referred by their home school district for emotional needs that can not be addressed properly in a public school setting. Students referred by their districts are screened and if determined appropriate, attend 5 days weekly participating in several hours of online instruction followed by groups and therapy sessions. The goal of Crossroads is to stabilize the students and to teach them coping skills to better manage their emotional needs so that they can return to their public school setting and show success in both the school and home settings. Along with online instruction and therapies, students participate in community outings and many are connected with outside services to support both the student and the family at home and in the community. The program, which embraces trauma-informed care, is able to serve a maximum of 40 students and has a high ratio of staff to students. Most students exit the program within a year.
