NatureTracks Visits Garfield Heights' Maple Leaf Elementary Sch
Over the course of three days, every Maple Leaf student had the opportunity to participate in a unique learning experien
ce right in our school parking lot. The Cleveland Metroparks brought its NatureTracks mobile outreach vehicle to us, providing hands-on environmental education.
This program offers free educational opportunities to residents of Cuyahoga County, with a focus on the City of Cleveland and communities with limited access to the Metroparks. Students engaged with:
- Interactive exhibits simulating a temperate forest habitat
- Mounted native animal species for observation
- A 38-foot mobile classroom designed for immersive learning
Grade 4: Instincts & Behavior – Students explored how animals migrate and adapt in response to environmental changes, identifying factors that impact survival.
Grade 5: Food Chain & Energy Flow – Students traced the flow of the sun’s energy through an ecosystem, learning how energy moves from producers to decomposers.
Thank you to Cleveland Metroparks for bringing this engaging and educational experience to our students.
