CMA Concert Series Event to Honor Dr. Robert G. Schneider
As a part of its 2022 Spring Performing Arts Series, the Cleveland Museum of Art is honoring the late Dr. Robert G. "Doc" Schneider, longtime Shaker Heights High School Music Department Chair and Director of Choirs, with the first Robert G. Schneider memorial commission, sponsored by the Musart Society.
The Friday, March 25, concert will feature The Crossing, a professional chamber choir conducted by Donald Nally. The Crossing is committed to working with creative teams to make and record new, substantial works for choir that explore and expand ways of writing for choir, singing in choir and listening to music for choir.
The concert includes, as the memorial commission, the world premiere of Stacy Garrop’s “In a House Besieged” and features guest organist Scott Dettra. The commission is expressly written for choir and organ, combining Dr. Schneider’s two passions.
The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m., March 25, in the museum’s Gartner Auditorium. Tickets are $35-$45 or $30-$40 for CMA members and are available at https://www.clevelandart.org/events/music-and-performances/crossing.
