Brooklyn Schools Supports Attendance Awareness Month
Brooklyn City Schools has proudly teamed up with the Cleveland Browns Foundation and the Stay in the Game! Network (SITG) to promote the importance of regular attendance during the 2023-24 school year! This engaging initiative will seek to help students “stay in the game” by being in-school daily and raise awareness of the positive impact of consistent attendance on student learning, social skills, graduation rates, and more. To accomplish these goals, Brooklyn Schools will host fun incentive programs, activities, and events to promote attendance while engaging all members of the school community, including families and the greater community.
September is Attendance Awareness Month and all participating SITG districts will feature a different planned event each week. During the first week of September, Brooklyn School students showed off their best dance moves as part of the ‘At-Ten-Dance” Challenge for the chance to win free Browns or Columbus Crew gear. Congratulations to Mrs. Cannon’s class on being the winning classroom at Brooklyn School! Be sure to check out Principal Bollin’s Twitter account for videos of students showing their “At-Ten-Dance” moves.
Brooklyn School recognized the finalists of its first Stay in the Game perfect attendance contest on Friday, September 1st. Each finalist received a Cleveland Browns Stay in the Game t-shirt, with one student being selected to represent Brooklyn City Schools at the upcoming Browns home against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 24th.
The remaining weeks of September will the following challenges: Stay in the Game Attendance Pledge (September 11-15); Art Contest featuring student artwork showing their top reasons for attending school (September 18-22); and Spirt Week which will encourage students to come to school wearing their school colors (September 25-29). Highlights of each challenge will be shared on social media by building principals.
