Cuyahoga Heights Student-Athlete Pursues His Passion at CVCC
When he’s not in the classroom or on the court at Cuyahoga Heights High School, senior Cade Davies is deep in studies in the Sports Medicine Exercise Science program at the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. A member of the CHHS Varsity Basketball Team, Davies decided to join the program to prepare for a career in sports medicine.
Davies’ s favorite experience in class this year has been a field trip to the University of Mount Union in Alliance to meet and talk to some of the instructors and current
students to get a taste of what it’s like to be an Exercise Science student at the school. The CVCC visitors were also given a tour of campus which Cade appreciated.
After graduation, Cade said he plans to attend college to study to be an Exercise Physiologist, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, or a similar career.
“Cade is one of the most organized and prepared students I've taught. He is respectful of all classmates and instructors and works well with everyone in lab situations. He is a kind-hearted person who takes both school and academics very seriously,” said Sports Medicine Exercise Science Instructor Shawn Fahey.
“Mr. Fahey has had a huge impact on me. He’s taught me how to be organized, how to treat others correctly, and is extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter. He is a role model I look up to and is truly just an all-around great person.” Cade’s advice to future students is to be confident. “If something seems hard, don’t overthink it! Everyone at CVCC is here to help you, so don’t be shy and ask questions.”
