Euclid Student-Athletes Participate in All-Star Panther Readers Program
Euclid Panther Student-Athletes and members of High School clubs and activities have started visiting Euclid Elementary Schools to read with first-grade students and talk with them about the importance of reading and doing well in school.
At this visit, EHS Basketball Players each chose a book they wanted to share with the classes they were visiting. After reading their book, the High School students shared about themselves and how reading has helped them perform academically.
After visiting the classrooms, the High Schoolers then joined the first graders for lunch and recess, where they continued to chat with the younger learners and model good lunchroom manners and sportsmanship on the playground.
By the end of the visit, it was hard to tell who had more fun and walked away with a more impactful experience--both the high schoolers and elementary students formed meaningful connections and strengthened their love of reading.
“We are hoping to make positive connections within our district buildings and let everyone see that we have great kids at EHS and we have great things going on while promoting academic excellence,” EHS Assistant Principal Pete Hliatzos said.
The All-Star Panther Readers program is an ongoing and growing initiative, with the goal of developing a greater bond between High School students and Elementary Students through a love of books and reading. There are already future visits planned for both Arbor and Bluestone Elementaries.
