Brooklyn School’s Power of the Pen Team celebrated a string of impressive team and individual accomplishments at the 2024 District Tournament held at St. Raphael School on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The seventh-grade team finished in second place and received an Award for Excellence in Writing. Several Hurricanes were also recognized with medals for their outstanding individual performances, including Julianna Lottig & Lisa Latoui (seventh grade) and Layla Burnette (eighth grade). The Power of the Pen competition is an interscholastic creative writing program for Middle Schools and features three extemporaneous rounds of writing during which students are asked to write a response to an open-ended prompt. Congratulations to the entire Brooklyn School Power of the Pen Team and their advisor, Kathleen Mack, for their award-winning performances at the district tournament!
