Brooklyn Students Create Award Winning Artwork
Impressive artwork created by Brooklyn students was recently selected for display in art exhibitions at the local, state, and national level, with several s
ubmissions being awarded for their artistic excellence. Jackie Rodriguez (grade 8) was one of 125 students nationally recognized from close to 2800 entries across the country in the National Art Honor Society juried exhibition. The community can view her submission below, which is titled, Mindset, and was inspired by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Four Brooklyn students had the honor of their artwork selected for display at the Youth Art Month Northeastern Regional Show awards ceremony and opening reception at Case Western Reserve University's Adelbert Gallery on Sunday, March 10th. Aidan Neri Escobar (grade 5) won second place from all Northeastern region schools, grades 3-5 and Calissa Schillinger (grade 8) won first place from all Northeastern region schools, grades 6-8. Mavis Freed (grade 5) and Kayleigh Lorwanphet (grade 7) also had artwork featured in the prestigious exhibition.
Several Brooklyn artists, Naija Fleming (grade 6) and Ava Wilson (grade 7) received state-level recognition by having their artwork displayed at the Young People's Art Exhibition. Both students were recognized at a reception in Columbus during the first weekend of March.
