Bedford Students Attend Family Civic Engagement Night

The Primary Election was earlier this week. Oakwood Councilwoman, Candace Williams organized a Family Civic Engagement Night, and it was amazing!

Students learned to fill out “mock voter registration” forms as judges and other city leaders from all over Cuyahoga county were present and engaged with our Bearcats. There was even a learning station that explained the breakdown of the different wards. The League of Women Voters were there too, and they even had a speaker to explain the details gerrymandering.

The event was strictly educational.  All candidates were invited to participate. The goal of the event was to make sure that voters are educated. Councilwoman Candace Williams is quoted as saying “We want to make sure that members of 44146 are informed when they are at the polls”

The Bedford City School District looks forward to more activities that encourage civic participation from our youth!
