Cuyahoga Heights Fourth Grade Students Learn About Christmas Around the World

Each student made their own passport, including their name, age, height, weight, eye color, hair color, and a self-made portrait. Each day they “traveled” to a new country to learn about the customs, traditions, and dishes that are popular during the Holiday Season. Each child also drew the flag of the country they toured and wrote how to say “Merry Christmas” in that country’s native tongue.
“We traveled to six continents over nine days to learn about the cultures and celebrations of France, Australia, Russia, Mexico, Peru, Madagascar, Germany, and finally, Israel, where Hanukkah is primarily celebrated,” said teacher Matt Salzwimmer. “It was a lot of fun and a great experience to learn about new places and get to see how others celebrate this wonderful holiday,” added Salzwimmer.
