Esports Club Launches at Brooklyn HS

Esports has quickly become one of the fastest growing and popular co-curricular activities for students across the state of Ohio. Brooklyn High School recently launched its own Esports Club which provides students the opportunity to connect with and compete against each other in exciting gaming competitions. Under the guidance of advisor Jeff Jones, the inaugural club meets approximately 1-3 times per month, with the beginning portion consisting of planning the next tournament, and the remainder of time dedicated to game play. Student interest and participation has been consistently strong with an average of fifteen students attending the club meetings and tournament play. Currently, Brooklyn students compete against each other in tournament competitions, but as interest in the program continues to increase, the club will consider expanding to compete against students in other school districts across the state.

Brooklyn’s Esports club hosted a successful Super Smash Brothers tournament at the end of the first quarter which resulted in junior Gabriel Puchalski emerging victorious (with bragging rights and winning a Game Stop gift card) over 8th grader Gaven McCanelley in the finals. On December 11th, the club will be hosting an exciting NBA 2K24 tournament after school in the cafeteria. Stay tuned for more updates from the Brooklyn High School Esports club.
