Euclid's Early Learning Village Stretch Minds and Bodies

On Tuesday, Preschool students from the Early Learning Village and their families were invited to a Family Yoga night with Mrs. Yoe from Storybook Yoga.

Mrs. Yoe, a former Euclid Kindergarten Teacher, is the owner of Storybook Yoga, a program designed to help children develop balanced bodies and minds through interactive story-based yoga.

The program started with a half-an-hour yoga session, led by Mrs. Yoe, while she told a winter themed story. The storyline helps inspire the yoga poses throughout the session.

According to studies from the Journal of Children’s Services, there are many benefits of teaching yoga to young children. Studies have shown that yoga helps students develop mind-body awareness, improve self-regulation and can enhance student behavior, mental state and performance.

After finishing the yoga portion of the evening, families were invited to the ELV Cafeteria for an enriching Christmas tree ornament art project for parents and children to work on together.

Following the craft project, families assembled smore gingerbread houses with graham crackers, marshmallow fluff, sprinkles and candies.
