Communities across the country know Safe Babies works.
Data from CASA and Zero to Three demonstrate that compared to those in traditional family court, infants and toddlers in Safe Babies:
- End up in a permanent family two- to three times faster
- Leave foster care a year earlier
- End up with their own family nearly twice as often
- Do not re-experience maltreatment. In fact, more than 99% of infants and toddlers served by this approach did not re-experience maltreatment within the 12-month period following the initial allegation
- Receive evidence-based, early childhood mental health services (93.9% of children in Safe Babies versus 66% of all children in the welfare system).
Safe Babies is cost effective. Up to two-thirds of the program’s average cost per child could be directly generated from savings to jurisdictions due to children’s avoided or shortened stays in foster care.
